Katie Broadway’s Story

Recovery

Katie’s childhood was marked by abuse and instability, leaving deep wounds that followed her into her teenage years. Searching for relief from the trauma she endured at home, she turned to drugs at a young age. By 15, Katie was overdosing regularly and suffering from drug-related seizures. She felt trapped in unsafe environments and believed her life had little purpose beyond surviving the pain she was living with.

For years, addiction became her way of coping. It was the only life she knew.

Everything began to change when her family created a way for her to leave the unsafe conditions she was living in and encouraged her to come to the Dream Center. The decision was not easy. Katie was hesitant and afraid to leave behind what was familiar, even if it was harmful.

But at the Dream Center, she encountered something she had never truly experienced before: consistent love, support, and community. Through the care of pastors, mentors, and other members, Katie began to see herself differently. She discovered that her story was not over — and that her life carried real purpose.

Today, Katie is 14 months sober. She has been fully restored with her family for the first time in more than four years. Now, she uses her experience to encourage and support others walking through similar struggles, offering hope to those who feel stuck in darkness.

Katie’s story is one of rescue, healing, and restoration — a powerful reminder that transformation is possible when someone is given a safe place to belong.
